Meaning the "THANK YOU" thread further down the message board.
It is sad to see such negativity clouding over such a positive and happy day. People work so hard to give the kids something to do that is fun (we all know such activities are limited in our community) and above all safe! To question, not to mention degrade, the character of an adolescent, who is still growing as a person, makes one wonder the quality of the character of such an individual. As your (community member) post clearly identifies you as a knowledgeable person of good character, why not teach a child and help to enrich their disposition rather than to demean it in such a cowardly manner. After all, these kids are the future of our – your, community. I was baffled to see the posting left by “Parent.” To see your or any child, be subjected to such unkind treatment and simply agree with it does not make any sense or help the matter at hand in any way. It was said parents should not make excuses for their children, perhaps parents should work harder to instill better values in their children and situations like these can be avoided all together. Shame on the person who shames a child. Garbage can always be picked up and thrown away like sticks and stones, but disrespect is not so easily forgotten or forgiven.
McGrath is one of the cleanest communities I have ever seen. It is not uncommon in other places to find the basketball courts and playgrounds lined with empty alcohol bottles and cigarette butts. I think it’s great when every year those big yellow bags fill the streets and people (mainly youth) add to the beauty of our community. Inflicting negativity towards these same youth only diminishes that beauty. On an ending note, I am happy to see that everyone enjoyed the Easter celebrations and have no doubt that this can be turned into a positive learning experience for all parties involved, including myself. Happy Spring and see you when the April slop has dried up and the dusty season begins.
