Hi Jan - isn't it great to watch it take off and KEEP ON GOING?! Another year with no flooding (had better say "so far" but it looks good). Happy Mother's Day to you too, and the other mothers in your neighborhood.
We had an Archivist out this past week teaching us how to catalog and store collections, documents, photos, etc. One we looked at is the one of the metal strong box you sent down to us. There are a few mentions of Bert Goodpaster in the old Kusko Times (I only have them indexed through 1928) and i am trying to find out more about him. Do you know if he might be buried there? He worked at Ophir, and for the Alaska Road Commission, but obviously in the days of the strong box he was doing business at Takotna - Commissioner or businessman perhaps? He died 7/26/1937 but I have not gotten a copy of his obituary yet - one can learn quite a bit from obits. Anyway, it is an interesting collection, and it might even be possible to research the family of the lady who wrote and sent him photos. it is worth a try. Anything you have found around about him at Takotna?
