I find it ironic that days after the UAA Denali funded study on rural migration was published UAF suddenly closed the campus.
According to the ADN : A new University of Alaska Anchorage study shows that the migration has accelerated in the last two years.
The study by the Institute of Social and Economic Research says the annual net population loss from rural Alaska has more than doubled since 2006. The reasons are not obvious, but the study shows that young women are leading the way...I will miss Shannon, Noel, and Howard if he has to leave - which of course might lose us his wife - one of the best Health Aides with whom I have worked.
More hard data for UAAs continuing study and a tremendous loss to the entire region.
