The Iditarod Area School District and the US Fish & Wildlife Service-Innoko are again offering a Environmental Summer Science Program beginning July 26-August 1, 2009. This camp are for students entering into the 9th and 10th grades. We will accept 8th, 11th and 12th if there are not enough 9th and 10 grade students. The camp will be located 3 miles down the Kuskokwim River at Round Mountain. Projects may include but are subject to change: Water Quality & Invertebrate Sampling, Plant Collecting & Medicinal Value, Fire Building,Fish Dissection/Adaptation, Orienteering, Natural Journal Writing, Kayaking and Canoeing, Boat & Bear Safety and evening activiites. Lots of fun, better understaning & greater appreciation of the Natural Resources in your local area and 1/2 high school science credit. If this sounds like the thing for you, pick up an application from your Tribal Office or at the Innoko Office. Mail or fax your application to Clara Demientieff/Camp Coordinator or Bo Sloan/Refuge Manager at 907-524-3251. We also would like volunteers to teach projects and activities.
