The Burn Box has been emptied three times since being put into service. Tom reports that there was very little ash and debris remaining each time the contents was pushed over the edge through the back door. The photo below shows the total accumulation pushed through the Burn Box from Sept. 22 to October 28, 2009. This "visual" shows that it is working as intended.
While a large majority of Landfill users are noticing the signs and locations for EXPLOSIVES and LEAD ACID BATTERIES (i.e. vehicle) located conveniently near the Burn Box, there have still been small propane bottles and aerosol cans tossed in the Burn Box. These items can cause serious harm to you or another person loading trash into the Burn Box when it is burning.
Please sort your burnable garbage/trash from that which will not or should not be burned and place other items in the respective containers OR if appropriate, over on the Salvage side at the next gate/driveway. You can drive down and turn around to offload salvage items (lumber, pipe, steel, other), vehicles, white goods (refrigerators, washers/dryers, stoves, etc.) as well as brush among other things.
Please do not put willows and brush in the Burn Box. Little scraps of lumber are OK.
More options for recycling will be available as time goes on.
