In accordance with the MIJC Bylaws and as authorized by a unanimous vote of the MIJC Board of Directors on June 18, 2011 - this is your official notification of proposed Constitutional amendments that will be placed before the Michigan Jaycees at our next meeting.
The next scheduled meeting of the Michigan Jaycees will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 12:00 PM at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, MI (5700 East 28th Street, SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546).
The proposed Constitutional amendments can be found here: Constitutional Amendments (August 2011)
Prior to the Corporate meeting, the MIJC Board of Directors will consider a number of bylaw amendments as well. Those proposed Bylaw amendments can be found here: Bylaw Amendments (August 2011)
I urge you to share these proposals with your members and to begin getting feedback on the proposals at this time.
Each of your chapters will be allocated a number of delegates for the Corporate in accordance with MIJC Bylaw 3.100, as follows:
A Local Organization Member in good standing shall be entitled to register delegates to represent its individual or institutional members who may vote on its behalf at any meeting of the Corporation. Voting Members of the Board of Directors shall also be entitled to register as delegates to vote at any meeting of the Corporation. Local Organization Members may register a number of delegates based upon their final membership population on the last day of the quarter preceding any vote of the Corporation. Local Organization Members may register as many as four delegates representing the first forty-nine (49) members of that chapter, plus two additional delegate for every additional twenty-five (25) members of that chapter, so that a chapter with between fifty (50) and seventy-four (74) members has six delegates, a chapter with between seventy-five (75) and ninety-nine (99) members has eight delegates, and so on.
A list of the number of delegates each chapter may have will be sent in a separate email in the next few days.
We are investigating the possibilities of holding a webinar before the next Michigan Jaycee meeting that will give members an opportunity to ask questions about these changes before we get to convention. Please keep your eyes open for the details of those webinars.
In the meantime, should you have any questions about these amendments, please feel free to contact me or any member of the MIJC Board of Directors.
Thank you for all you do for the Jaycees. I'll see you soon.
