Posted by Kitty on 1/22/2006, 8:34 pm Mickey posted in my guest book ( http://www.geocities.com/mymmsite/) recently, with news of his most recent projects ... you are welcome to go to the guest book and post a message back to him :D I am sure he would like to hear from everyone :D Below is a copy of his message. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Happy New Year! And very soon, Happy Chinese New Year! Thank you for your kind, sincere words, wishes, songs, poems, ecard, suggestions and encouragement. It is all deeply appreciated. I have had the great pleasure of meeting many of you at the first Avcon and also after "The Tempest" last summer. Yes, it was pretty warm out there on the beach! : ) I hope to meet more of you in the future and to see others again. I was able to visit with some relatives I had not seen in a while over the holidays, which was very nice. I met a number of wee second cousins I had not met before. It was quite a cute fest. Some news: I will be hosting two Chinese New Year Galas this year, in Toronto and in Washington D.C. There are Galas in ten North American cities this year and five others overseas. The first two sold out shows were in Boston on January 7th. A website that is dedicated to reviewing Opera has a great review. It was good to see that the writer was able to understand the show on different levels. You can find the review in the "Current Reviews" section of the following website: The show really is a singular experience. It's wonderful and enriching. This is the third year I have been involved and I highly recommend it, which I would not do lightly. The artists who are the main group traveling to all of the North American cities have created very pure performances based on their searches into the geniune Chinese culture during the various dynasties over the past 5,000 years of China's history. There are also a number of Western performances during each show to give a nice mix. Here is the information for the Toronto Gala: Here is the info for the D.C. Gala: Here is the website for all of the Galas. Just click the links to various cities at the top. The New York Galas are being held this Friday and Saturday. If you or anyone you know is in the area check out the website. They will be at Radio City Music Hall where the show will also utilize one of the largest projection screens in any theatre in the world. Of course, this is expected in NYC! : ) There has, unfortunately been some interference with the Toronto and New York Galas by the Chinese government. I think it is good to bring these kinds of things into the light, so I mention it here. The details can be found in an article at the following link: This is the slow season for acting as there are not many productions happening. I am not traveling all over the place to film festivals at this point (although that was a great experience), so I will be able to focus more on writing and any acting opportunities that come up. I will, of course let you all know of any acting to watch for. For now, I would recommend the Galas. : ) I wish you all the very best in all regards. Be well. If any of you get to the Toronto or D.C. Galas, please say hi after the show. Just ask around about how to get backstage. Mickey
