Sussana, Barb and Wendy N Your kind words, well wishes, poem and heartfelt thoughts for my birthday are very much appreciated. I am sorry for such a long delay in my response. During the time of my birthday, there were some very shocking things that occurred in the persecution of Falun Gong, as news was revealed about the discovery of concentration camps and mass harvesting of internal organs from living practitioners. The U.S. and Canadian governments have taken this news seriously and are continuing to look into the matter with their own investigations. In the midst of this news, that was shocking even with the level of atrocities that have already been committed, I was not so focused on my birthday. I did read and was thankful for the comments, but thought it best to wait on a response. I also considered informing this guest book about the disturbing information at the time, but did not want to respond to the warm wishes with such news. In retrospect, and in consideration of the urgency of the matter, perhaps it would have been best to forego niceties and to have informed others of what had been discovered. I am sure that many of you saw the Falun Gong practitioner who started yelling at the pomp and ceremony that accompanied the visit of Chinese dictator Hu Jintao to the U.S. about a month ago. I personally know this practitioner, who is a very intelligent, well educated, dignified lady. She is also a medical doctor and had been doing an investigation into the validity of the information about the organ harvesting and had concluded that it is indeed happening. This is what prompted her outburst. As one newspaper article commented, she was basically (and understandably) screaming bloody murder. Sometimes, it takes such a wake up call… On a lighter note, it was very nice to see some of you again at the Avonlea reunion. It was also nice to see the other cast members as well. The road of life and the Road to Avonlea intersected once again. At this meeting point, it was also good to speak with Kevin Sullivan. He and Dan, who has worked with Kevin for many years, did a very nice job and put a lot of work into a video and aural presentation, sharing about various facets of the production of Avonlea. It was also very nice to meet John Welsman, who provided much of the emotional impact for the show with his excellent music composition. A small note on acting – I acted in a short film about 3 months ago. The cast was really impressive for a short film, partly because the business in Toronto has been very slow for some time now and there’s a lot of actors who are looking to just act. ; ) Some of the cast included Angela Asher who played my wife in the episode of “This is Wonderland”, Richard Clarkin who played Jacob in the World Premier production of “Salt Water Moon” many years ago among many other roles and Chuck Shamata who has acted in many, many TV shows, TV movies and feature films. The short movie is presently called “The Collision”, but the title may change. I am not sure what will happen with the project, as short films have very varied journeys. I am also writing, but nothing to mention specifically at this point. Again, thank you for the very nice birthday wishes. I wish all of you the very best in all regards. I’ll be in touch with further news. Take good care, Mickey
