Posted by Michael Mahonen on 6/23/2004, 12:26 am Sandstorm update. I looked at some earlier posts, and yes, Sandstorm won Best Feature Film in Oklahoma City. The audience reactions were very strong and positive. Even the other filmmakers were talking about the movie for a long time afterward. The audience was very curious and I was answering questions afterward for over 20 minutes - something I have not seen at a festival movie screening before. Sandstorm was at a festival in Mississippi last weekend. I was not able to attend as I was out of town elsewhere, but a couple of friends were representing the movie and the So, the movie is having a good effect letting people know what is happening with the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. This is very gratifying. We are in the process of finishing off a web site for the movie that will have lots of information and photos and a 30 second trailer. A longer trailer will be put together soon. I will post when the site is ready. On another note, I have been receiving a number of letters from viewers in Japan. I have not been able to find time to respond through mail, but I read all of the letters. Thank you for the kind comments. I wish you all the very best. All the very best to everyone else as well. Take care, Mickey

Hi everyone
audience reactions were again, very strong. I was told the applause was "unusually long" when the movie ended. The DVD for the screening following ours was late arriving and this time the Q&A lasted over half an hour.
