Any updates on the vintage expedition race at Mendota Illinois? I went out for a ride Saturday morning and found myself in Mendota. So I looked for the fairgrounds to check out the MX track. It's been 20+ years since I've been there. They used to have 1/2 mile flattrack races there on a very nice limestone track. The 1/2 mile track is still there, and brought back some good memories. It was real tempting to run a few laps on the DR650, but getting a ticket, or worse, didn't seem like too much fun to me. The MX track looks like it would be vintage friendly. It's a small / tight track, and the jumps aren't overwhelming like most stadium type tracks, so I think it could be a fun evening for us vintage riders. The grandstands would give a real nice view of the track. Plus it would be kind of neat if we all set up our bikes under the grandstands and show them off. There is a nice area under the stands right where the spectators line up to buy tickets. Could make for some interesting conversations, and maybe a bit of "bench racing" for the MX fans. I'll be there, could be fun.
