It's been kinda quiet, so I thought I would throw out something to read.So here it goes... The last race meant to me more than any other race, even though I took second, ( thanks Hogie!)LOL, it was still an unforgettable day. My Dad was there, all the way from Jefferson City, MO and I raced his bike! His 1981 RS175. Some of you may have met him. I owe my passion to motocross to him. As a young kid it was fairly safe and fun back then, (1983) but as I got older, and the emergency room visits became more frequent the support from him became a little less. The sport was changing, the bikes were getting faster and the tracks were getting more dangerous with the big triples and waist high whoops. He left riding behind around 1989 do to an injury. In 2003 I shattered my right leg, left ankle and broke my back. My racing days were done. Then I found out about VMX. It truely is like stepping back in time when racing was competive but clean. When guys high five after a good battle. When guys cracked jokes at the riders meet and trophy ceremony. Having fun. My Dad who is now 64, had such a great time he is coming to Sunset Ridge to watch, but, he may even race. He inspired me to ride and race when I was a kid, now I'm inspiring him to swing a leg over a bike and ride again, all because of the atmosphere he was exposed to that day. I must admit, this is a great club, with friendly people and staff. I hope to see it grow and pass down the true roots of motocross to many others. Keep up the great work everyone. Have fun, See ya at the next race.
