Kurt, if you've never raced a grass track before, you're in for a treat. I just started VMX last year and thought these guys were nuts wanting to ride on grass, but I found out it's a blast! Ride with caution your first practice, if there's dew on the grass early it can make you nervous. But once the grass drys, and gets ate up a bit it's fun. The grass track at Walnut has two places where you can be in top gear WFO, which is something that fits me perfect. Just make sure your brakes work good if you do this.
There is one jump that you can get some good air if that's what you like, or if you're like me, you can scrub it and keep low to the ground. Then there is four or five other jumps just right for vintage bikes. Even has a short section of sand to keep things interesting.
