what you've discribed is pretty much case book study of a lean pilot condition.Did you start to experience this problem about the time the last race at Walnut? True it's important to verify that no leaks exist. But it's really cheap an easy to change the pilot at least 2 sizes bigger set the air screw 1 1/2 turns to start with. If it's lean jetting it should improve the idle, if not start spraying wd around suspect areas. Tim Smiths 78 CR250 was doing same at Walnut quick pilot jet swap improved it but had to go 1 bigger pilot at home do to lack of time and jet assortments at the track. If 2pilots bigger goes to the rich direction what you'll notice is it will start good cold but will have a dull exhaust note (blubber) and be slow to rev just off idle
