I take my hat off to Dutton's part in the reassessment of mainly English late-Romantic composers. I have a couple of dozen of their issues and I have been highly delighted with the quality of the performances and sound. Their adventurous recordings have I believe are as potentially influential as the Lyrita recordings from the 1970’s. I have been surprised by how many music lovers, at Recorded Music Societies for example, were unaware of them and they clearly needed a greater marketing drive. If say the Gramophone and BBC Music magazines had promoted them as they do the recording of the big labels then things would have been different.
