I was listening to the great Second Symphony (1962) by Alun Hoddinott today. Out of interest I tapped his name into the internet. Nothing – at least nothing of any consequence. No Website or page devoted to his music. A few references here and there. A miniscule note on the Lengnick page: virtually nothing at the Welsh Music Guild without logging in.
Yet this is one of the United Kingdom’s great composers. And what about Wales? Surely he is one of the best of their musical heirs. Yet nothing. It is as if he barely exists.
Perhaps I just might…
