My daughter (just 15) is currently studying viola at Chethams School of Music. Having previously played with NCO and frequently competed in national youth chamber competitions, she has just gained a place with the National Youth Orchestra. She is starting to participate in various other events- playing with Chets orchestra at la Mortella at the invitation of Lady Walton, violist in a string quartet playing at London String Quartet Foundation's Quartet Symposium etc. As a non-musical mother of four children all playing instruments, I am fast running out of knowledge, cash, ideas and/or award applications to get her another instrument which she now needs to improve her playing. She has outgrown the small, and (by our standards) very expensive, Kennedy I purchased previously and her sister now uses it. Her teacher felt there were no suitable instruments to borrow currently from Benslow or the school. Does anyone know a musical benefactor who may loan a quality instrument to a capable and progressing young violist for the next 2 -3 years at least? She needs a 15 3/4" - 16". Any help or leads gratefully received.
