It would be interesting to know what other gems are in this composer's opus list. It appears that he was the conductor of an orchestra and himself a string player.

It is not often that I choose to praise Classic FM and their choice of English Music. Yet I have to hand it to them on the performance last night of Haigh Marshall's beautiful Elegy. This is a work that well deserves its place in the English String Music repertoire along side more famous examples by Bridge, Ireland, RVW and Britten.
