John Quinn has a good and valid point. The 'trouble' with instrumental works is that it can be recorded by any talented soloist and no reviewer would be tempted to try and discover whether it is authentic or not. Until a scandal like the Hatto scandal erupts, that is. This can never happen with the sung voice. Each good singer has a unique sound and even if you're a good mimic (which I have yet to discover)only the authentic ones prevail. Unless you're a Florence Foster Jenkins! But then who would like to sound like her?
