I would echo everything Alistair has just said -I think Chris Howell's excellent article puts into words what many of us are thinking right now. After all, I myself, as a piano technician, was chatting away merrily to BC at the Musicweb lunch, as I was desperate to get some info on their 'Rachmaninov' Steinway, the ex-Abbey Road one that Hatto apparently loved and made all her recordings on. We were cut short by him having to leave, but he seemed amiable enough...However, Chris makes the point about others coming forward, notably Jeremy Nicholas, one of the few to have interviewed her. To that name I would add Ates Orga - after all, his major Musicweb article is what most of us are basing our knowledge of Hatto on, as it's full of detail, some of which is taken from a face-to-face inteview he did with her in Cambridge in 2005. So as a major proponent of hers, does he have anything enlightening to add at this time?
