Posted by B. Aguirre on February 23, 2007, 4:20 pm, in reply to "Re: Hatto? Ha!" The most interesting part of Jeremy Nichols' letter is the reference to a recording of a Rachmaninov concerto from the 1960s. That certainly was not the Bronfman recording which I believe was made in the early 1990s. If you can get hold of it, it should be sent to Pristeen Audio and AHRC for analysis. It would make a good comparison for anything else that may or may not be JH's original work. Then again it may just be an earlier forgery. Christopher Howell's correspondence is still troubling. As there is a chance that some if not all of it was fabricated, I still think it would be of benefit to submit it for computer content analysis in order to determine whether there was one, or were two writers. It is still important to determine whether JH participated in the hoax, and if so, to what extent. Another question: are there any existing copies of the Bax piano concerto done with Handley? If so, it should also be analyzed by Pristeen Audio and AHRC (along with the circa 1960s Rachmaninov recording) as that work is not questioned. It would serve as good reference for her "later work."

I have read the subsequent postings and would like to say first that although I'm glad that there was actually a real person underneath the layers of obfuscation and deception, I am so very sorry that any story of long term survival of ovarian cancer is wishful thinking. I now suspect that JH did not have cancer until the final years of her life. I don't know what she did suffer from, but I suspect (and this is pure speculation) that she may have been diagnosed with ovarian cystic disease 30 odd years ago and that this was inflated to or confused with ovarian cancer somewhere along the line. One can struggle with that for decades and lead a productive life. It is not a fatal disease although statistically those who have it are predisposed to develop ovarian cancer.
