Celi's Brahms divides the critics. If you are a Celi fan, my recommendation would be to go for his EMI recordings with Munich as a rule - the later you get in Celi's career, the broader the tempi and the greater the air of mystery, discovery and rapture (if that's your thing). By contrast, his Stuttgart recordings on DG can come across as quirky rather than eccentrically revelatory. I have heard his his Stuttgart and Munich Bruckner, and the Munich recordings are definitely more spacious and rapt. I have not heard his EMI Brahms symphonies, but I have heard his DG cycle and, while quirky, I did not find it especially revelatory.
