Do not let us throw the baby out with the bath water in this effort to debunk the existence of a great teacher. Gail Buckingham's recording of Lizst is, indeed, authentic - I know because, as a fellow-pupil, I'd heard her give the same performance in the Purcell Room as part of Joyce Hatto's series of Pupils' Concerts.
