At long last!!
Nobody has wished to debunk or otherwise Joyce Hatto as a teacher. The problem is, where have all her pupils gone? Why has nobody stood up to say - as it seems you are saying - "whatever she did in her later years she taught me everything I know", or words to that effect. A good many of us have wished Gail Buckingham, wherever she is - she would be 56 this year so is probably still alive - would give us her memories of Joyce Hatto. No other pupil has been named so far, though one supposes Philip Challis, who also recorded for Revolution, might have been. But he died recently. You have every right to use a presumed pseudonym "Reuben", but could you not come forward under your own name and submit an article to this website, "My teacher Joyce Hatto" or something of the kind? I repeat, nobody wants to debunk the real Joyce Hatto, we'd like to know who she really was, what her teaching methods were, and what actually happened after 1976.
