John, funnily enough I've just this moment finished reviewing the Zilberstein Pictures, which I requested on the basis of that newsgroup message. You'll see the review in due course but I can anticipate that it's clearly a different performance. However, it's an enjoyable one so I didn't waste my time.
So can anyone name other performances which have that sudden drop to piano where the melody goes up high in Bydlo?
