Göran Forsling writes "Not even Brigitte Fassbaender tried Dichterliebe as far as I know". In fact she recorded it - together with Schoenberg's George cycle - with the same pianist who then accompanied her in Winterreise, the composer Aribert Reimann. Apart from the latter, never long out of the catalogue, all her other EMI lieder recordings have been reissued in Germany, on 4 discs, of which I only have vol.2 & 4, not yet unfortunately the one with Dichterliebe, which is now on a separate disc (with Mendelssohn) from the Schoenberg, the latter now being my preferred version (issued together with Mahler & Milhaud). All these are available on Amazon.fr as well as .de - I can recommend them most heartily. I think we both agree on the supremacy of Lehmann and Fassbaender as lieder singers.
