Apart from enjoying the grand (pathetic in both senses) comedy of the Hatto makeovers, if that's the term, I was pleased to see such a positive review of a recording by Michele Campanella. I had bought the only (as far as I knew) available recordings of Busoni's Elegies and Sonatinas on LP in the early 80s and been very favourably impressed despite never having heard of this pianist. I did actually see them on Fonit Cetra CD later on, and would recommend them to anyone interested in exploring this repertoire, sadly under-represented on CD. Christopher Howell writes "Campanella was then 42 and established as a brilliant if possibly lightweight pianist." Well, he was 8 years younger when he did the Busoni, the latter recording not being to my mind evidence of "lightweight" status, quite the opposite.
