I suppose it would be even more pedantic to note that one of the definitions of "to handle" in the Concise Oxford Dictionary is "to treat" - by implication, not necessarily with the hands. If we say a person "handled the situation well", do we - or do you - really understand this to refer only to what he did with his hands?
