I first became acquainted with VW back in 1947 when I bought 78's of him conducting his 4th. I love them all - in fact if I could take only one composer's symphonies to that desert island it would be VW's. My preferences go like this: #3 (especially in Boult's BBC Symphony live performance), #4, #1, #5, #8, #9, #2, #6. #7. You can't go wrong on any of them.
