In the review of the definitive Elgar/Menuhin recording [Enigma and the Violin Concerto] I believe you have Elgar's year of birth wrong. The page: http://www.musicweb-international.com/classrev/2003/July03/Elgar_Menuhin.htm states 1891 - this would mean that he composed the enigma at the age of 8. Since Enigma is also quoted as Op. 32, this would make Sir Edward rather more of a child prodigy even than Mozart!
It would also mean he was looking terribly 'old for his years' in the photos with the young Menuhin!
Try 1857.
