I love your reviews in general, and the Mahler 10/Barshai in particular. And yes, the album is great. But you said:
"Mahler left the Tenth complete on four staves. We know enough of his working techniques to know that, once he had set down that stage of a work, he never altered the basic structure."
I am not such a Mahler expert, but aren't both Blumine and the inner movements of the Sixth counterexamples to this argument?
