Just to say how much I enjoyed John France's terrific review/article on this release. Like Mr France, I bought that old Lyrita LP back in the 70s and fell in love with the music (if not with Miss Coetmore, to the same extent as the youthful Mr France!)
I also, entirely agree with Mr France that, whatever the criticisms of Miss Coetmore's playing, this performance has a poetry about it that is missing in the very good Chandos alternative. The climax of the last movement is overwhewlming. Boult's accompaniment is magical. In some ways, I think that the Cello Concerto is Moeran's masterpiece. Thank you.
