What gives the reviewer the authority to say:
For now and for all practical purposes this is the leading version of Schmidt's masterpiece.
This review does not drop a word about two more recent recordings by Welser-Möst and especially Harnoncourt - of all conductors.
I have not heard Järvi's version so I can't judge myself but citing nothing but these (in many cases terribly bad) historical recordings raises doubts about the credibility of the reviewer - especially given this grandiloquent judgement.
A more modest stance should suit a lot better.
