Klemp: Walter is a very good conductor...you see, he is an absolute other character than I am. You see, it's difficult to speak about this but he is very conciliating (sic), elegant, very mild and I am not (pause)
Freeman: He is very romantic...
Klemp: ..very romantic. I am not at all. He is what we call - but not to misunderstand - he is a moralist. I am an immoralist, absolutely.
The whole programme is moving and has marvellous archive footage plus telling comments from Peter Heyworth, Werner Klemperer etc. Altogether, a model BBC documentary of the sort we don't see much anymore.
