I've been listening yet again, with enormous enjoyment, to Elgar's own superb performance of "Falstaff", and marvelling at the splendid playing of the LSO all these years ago. Two questions: (1) Is it a fair assumption that the beautiful solo violin playing is that of Billy Reed? (2) Can anyone put a name to the principal cellist?
