I agree Douglas, Nigel Kennedy did indeed provide a highly enjoyable performance of the Elgar concerto at the Proms. He is a great showman and the audience loved him. However, I feel that both his recordings of the Elgar with Vernon Handley and Simon rattle are finer interpretations. His recording of the Walton violin concerto with Rattle on EMI is also exceptional.
