I was recently disappointed to discover that the only music available from Ireland's Overlanders score is the Suite (ed. Mackerras) and two Symphonic Studies (arr. Bush). The suite is short, and its movements each conclude with a banal "ta-dah", presumably added by Mackerras. I haven't heard the Studies.
One enjoyable thing I recall about the original music is that the grand march theme would recur periodically through the film, and most impressively at the end, something the suite fails to capture. Since there is enough of the score available to make the suite and the studies, presumably it should be possible to reconstruct the original score? I hope someone will take on this task.
I should also cry "shame" at the unavailability of the film on DVD (except for some Canadian bootlegs).
