In its - or any other - day, the LP sound was and is "top drawer" stuff. It was the pinpoint precision of the stereo placement of the solo trumpet, in Lecocq's Mam'zelle Angot, that first persuaded my brain that my headphones' "sound-stage" went across the FRONT, rather than over the TOP!
One point of fact: The review heading states that the Mam'zelle Angot ballet was "arr. Massine". Well, Leonide Massine adapted the operetta scenario for his ballet, but Lecocq's music (not exclusively from the operetta) was actually arranged and orchestrated by the redoubtable Gordon Jacob. I still find it hard to believe that one reviewer of the LP described this as "heavy-handed".
