Jag & Jersey CD of the Month Review
Posted by Rich Mays on February 26, 2010, 7:38 pm
As producer and engineer for this CD I was delighted to learn of its choice as the "Review of the Month." But while everyone connected with this recording was named (including the organist who pressed one pedal note for 3:49) there was really no mention of the sound of the recording for which yours truly was responsible. While something of this can be inferred from the reviewer's enthusiasm, the producer and engineer of any recording has a greater role than many reviewers are aware. At the very least "sound" is usually accorded a mention somewhere.
In days of yore the producer and engineer were always named in the review (and the review credits), and given that online reviews are not limited by page space it will hopefully not be asking too much that in future the "supporting cast" is credited-- whether their contribution was for good or ill!
