The facts regarding Worldes Blis, including the text, are in the Naxos notes. I try to avoid repeating anything in notes which are available, like those of Naxos, at the click of a mouse. If you don't approve of my use of the term 'plainchant', please do take it up with Naxos and Richard Whitehouse. "Anything but blissful" was an attempt at humour to warn of modernist elements. It simply does not follow that the music must be unblissful simply because the subject matter of the poem is - I'm sure you'll know many counter-examples yourself. It helps no one trying to get an idea of what the work is like to be told that its "basis" is a 13th C monody. It's blissless worldes away.
