At the risk of making an obvious point a reviewer canít know what the contractual arrangements are for a recording Ė for instance, did Linn commission this company to make the recording or, as seems more likely in this case, agree to publish a recording that was brought to them once it had been made? Nowadays, I believe the business model of many independent labels is that they don't have in-house engineering but publish recordings produced and engineered by other people.
The point I was trying to get across is that, in my experience, recordings on the Linn label, of which Iíve heard quite a few, are always excellently engineered. Quite probably that's one of the label's key criteria in deciding whether or not to issue a recording under their imprint.
