But Mr. Finley, the Horenstein and Handley CFP recordings you mention were all stereo recordings made new for the label in the 1970s and 1980s. The Boult VW on Eclipse were reissues of early 1950s mono recordings. No doubt Decca brightened them up as far as they could (maybe too far if they were "electronically enhanced for stereo effect") but these are essentially "historical recordings".
The Eclipse LPs were all reissues of back catalogue while CFP was a mix of back catalogue (but not usually so old as to be from the mono era) and new recordings. If the historical angle doesn't interest you, you should try to find the date of the recording (it should be shown somewhere) before purchasing.
