Wilhelm Furtwangler Composer

WF always considered himself a composer, who conducted for his daily bread. Having heard several of his "things" eg the second symphony, symphonic concerto, I reckon his chamber music is better and more interesting. I would say though that Adolf Busch wrote better stuff overall.
I think probably he was correct to sticking to conducting. Maybe having composing ability allowed him to have an insight into compositions more so than other who merely waved batons!
