On the other hand, 'soon' is 'bald' in German, whereas Gaelic has 'a dh'aithghearr'; 'good night' is 'gute Nacht' in German, 'oidhche mhath' in Gaelic. Twain wouldn't have complained if he'd had any familiarity with Celtic languages.
