A couple of years ago my quartet programmed a Reicha Quartet in a concert with one of the Beethoven Op.18's. The interest is that Reicha was a friend and musical rival of Beethoven and he modeled some of his quartets (right down to the keys) on Beethoven. At the time I think we gave the 2nd live performance (and the 1st in the UK) for about 150 years. An audience member told me at the interval - with a degree of pride in his voice - that he had deliberately come late to avoid hearing the Reicha. Given that as a certain fact I knew he could never have heard the work I was rather non-plussed - it was a fine piece well worth the hearing.
All good luck to this enterprising Toccata series - I'm not sure Reicha is the genius some would say but for sure he deserves to be heard.
