Simon Thompson's Nicola Benedetti review
Posted by Colin on October 1, 2014, 9:19 pm
Simon Thompson says: "A lot of the other numbers wouldn’t sound out of place if they were played in a pub in the West Highlands ... high praise." Surely he mains 'low praise'? Compared to the rest of the music, these 'folk' pieces are (IMHO) rubbish!
A few minor errors: 'Strathspey' the dance doesn't have a capital 'S', 'Gallic' is the right pronunciation but wrong spelling - insultingly so! Benedetti's album also (shockingly?) gets the title of Burns' poem wrong - it's definitely NOT "My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose".
