As I have yet to hear Dudamel's Mahler 7 I'm just playing devil's advocate here; I hope to review it in due course.
However, what I like about Gwyn's review is that whatever I may think about his conclusions it's a spirited and passionate piece; indeed, it's the kind of response that would make me go out and buy the disc just to see if I agree with him. Isn't that what good reviewing is all about?
I must agree with you about Boulez's Mahler 7 though, but then even he is rather uneven in this repertoire. As for Gielen's Seventh I much prefer his earlier account to the BPO one. Just my opinion, of course :-)
