I'd like to say that I do agree with PCG's points on the whole, but there is one further important point when it comes to texts - if you don't know the original language, you can't know how accurate the translations are, or what type they are. In my experience translators often take too much licence, or the translations are done by natives of the source language rather than the target.
It may be true that any translation is better than none, but it's also the case that English speakers are very lazy and expect everything to be translated for them. If you want to truly appreciate Russian songs, learn Russian.
