I write this with disc 1 (Symphony in A major / Symphony no. 1 / Symphony no.2) of the aforementioned Martinon set [EMI CZS 7 62643 2] in the CD player. As Nick says, the performances are very enjoyable. I would disagree, however, with his description of the sound quality as thin and glassy. To my ears the digitally remastered sound is more than acceptable, clear, detailed and well-balanced, and quite typical of its early 1970s provenance.
