Ford - yes indeed, the Pesek cycle deserved a mention - although I think the RLPO playing 5 of the 9 symphonies constitutes more than a cameo role! I have/know about half that cycle but that does not include No.1 which might be why it slipped my attention here. I can't share your enthusiasm for the discs I know - rather too smoothed out and with the drama played down for my taste. Zdenek Kosler to my ear gets significantly better playing from the Slovak PO than Gunzenhauser - with him they sound like read/record versions - in No.8 (I think - but have not checked) the timps come in early, stop and then start again.
