That Membran box set is superb and well worth searching out. It's as cheap as chips but the recordings are first class both musically and technically. I read John France's article with interest. It is excellent and he mentions the LSSO Pye recording download. I made the stereo LP transfer for Klassic Haus and it's turned out very well. I played on the record all those years ago. The orchestra did play the piece in Stavanger Cathedral in 1960 but had already performed it in UK concerts in late 1959. The Pye LP sleeve also says that Malcolm Arnold conducted the LSSO in 1962.It was actually in 1963 (Tam O'Shanter, Young Person's Guide, English Dance etc). Minor comments in the scheme of things.
